Rural Water Supply
Majority of the population in India lives in rural areas. The main objective of this department is to supply pure and clean healthy water to the people in the rural areas, according to the government policy, water supply schemes are designed and implemented to provide 40 liters of water to each person in the rural areas per day. Also, the government has adopted a policy of demand-based public participation since the year 2001. Behind this, the government intends to pay serious attention to the issue of drinking water and related health of the rural people and to carry out water supply schemes with the cooperation of the people. Since the last 10 years, the amount of water in our states has decreased in various parts of the country. Since the ground water level has gone down very much, strengthening of the emergence and water conservation works have been taken in order to increase the ground water level. In order to carry out water supply schemes in rural areas in a transparent manner and in order to improve the quality of works, Gram Sabha has established Village Water Supply and Sanitation Committee at the village level and works are done through that committee.
