Minor Irrigation Department

As per the policy of the government, in the year 1972 Zilla Parishad Minor Irrigation Department was established separately. Local level irrigation schemes of 0 to 100 hectare irrigation capacity like irrigation ponds, Pazar ponds, village ponds and Kolhapuri style dams, these works are being surveyed by the Water Resources Department of the Government. After conducting such a survey, according to the technically and financially successful budget, the actual implementation of those works is done through this department. Now the government has conferred the authority of surveying the schemes of 0 to 100 irrigation capacity to the Zilla Parishad Irrigation Department.
Considering the geographical situation of the district, there is a huge scope for implementation of percolation ponds, village ponds, storage dams and other local level schemes. Survey works for such works are being undertaken.
