    Ramai Awas Yojana-Gramin

    About the scheme: It has been announced by the government resolution dated 15th November 2008. The name of the said scheme is Ramai Awas Yojana instead of Gharkul Yojana for Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist Communities.

    Scheme: Under this scheme, benefits were being provided to the poor below the poverty line in the centrally sponsored scheme Indira Awas Yojana. However, now the central government has started Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural instead of Indira Awas Yojana and in it, the beneficiaries are being selected on the basis of Social, Economic, Caste, Census (SECC). Accordingly, revised criteria are being decided.

    Grant of the scheme-
    1) Under Ramai Awas Yojana, the grant per household has been fixed at Rs. 1.20 lakh for ordinary areas and Rs. 1.30 lakh for hilly areas.
    2) Under Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, there is a provision of Rs 12,000/- for the construction of toilets for the beneficiaries of this scheme.
    3) In addition to the shelter assistance, there is a provision of 90/95 days of unskilled labor under MGNREGA for the construction of shelters.

    Eligibility/Criteria:-
    1) The beneficiary should belong to the Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist category.
    2) The beneficiary should have resided in the state of Maharashtra for at least 15 years.
    3) The beneficiary should be homeless or should not have a permanent house.
    4) The annual income limit of the applicant’s family has been fixed at Rs 1.20 lakh for rural areas.
    5) The beneficiary should have at least 269 sq. ft of his own land or the house will be built in the place where he has his own house.
    6) The benefit of this scheme is given to only one person in the family, in case of a divided family, ration card will be considered.
    7) If the land is less available, more than two joint construction group housing can be done by all the eligible interested beneficiaries of that place. Should not have benefited from other housing schemes of the government.
    9) Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Castes in Form D of Social and Economic and Caste Survey and 2011Beneficiaries from the neo-Buddhist community who fulfill the rural upgrade criteria of the Ramai Awas Yojana will be eligible as beneficiaries under the Ramai Awas Gramin scheme.
